Sherry Boyd, President  - 303-476-1336

After serving on the Colorado chapter board as Vice President of Communications from July 1, 2011, to Dec. 31, 2012, Sherry became President Jan. 1, 2013. She concurrently served as President Elect prior to becoming chapter President. Sherry began attending IABC as a student, and now has more than 35 years of professional experience in diverse aspects of global communications and marketing. Over the past five years, she has been a contributing writer and columnist for numerous magazines and websites. Sherry is currently managing editor for CONCRETE HOMES + LOW-RISE CONSTRUCTION and ConcreteBusinessToday online. She has won numerous creative awards, including an Award of Excellence in Integrated Marketing from McGraw-Hill in 2004, received while she was the marketing director for a leading building materials manufacturer. Earlier in her career, she developed a specialization in assisting major U.S. corporations to communicate effectively to their international audiences. Sherry graduated summa cum laude from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a B.A. in English and Technical Communications. She lived in England for more than 16 years, and completed a year of postgraduate coursework in international relations and European economics at Keele University, Staffordshire, U.K.

Nolan Sundrud, Vice President of Finance/Treasurer

For more than 18 years, Nolan Sundrud has been involved in communications in a wide variety of functions, including public relations, product messaging, executive communications, branding, marketing, sales, advertising and internal communications. Currently, he is a Senior Communications Consultant at Willis Global, Inc., supporting their many clients with internal communications. He also teaches in the Master’s degree program at the University of Denver. Previously, at MWH, an environmental engineering firm, he led the internal and external communications for the American Hemisphere. Prior to moving to Colorado, Nolan was the COO for Cole Diagnostics, a fast-growing national pathology laboratory. As COO, he built their marketing function from scratch, dramatically improving awareness, creating a company website, designing sales materials and crafting a new brand identity. Before Cole Diagnostics, he worked for 10 years at Hewlett-Packard in a variety of public relations and product messaging roles. His career began in San Francisco at Ketchum Public Relations working for technology and health care companies. Nolan received his B.A. in Communications and Public Relations from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and earned an MBA from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado.

Cathy Chase, Administrator/Secretary

Cathy Chase serves as Corporate Communications Manager for CenturyLink (formerly Qwest Communications), the nation’s third-largest telecommunications company with approximately 45,000 employees. She has worked in the strategic communications industry for more than 20 years and has experience on both the agency and corporate sides of the business. Prior to moving to Denver in 2009, Cathy spent 13 years with Kansas City-based American Century Investments, where she advanced through various communications roles with increasing responsibilities. Other professional experience includes communications/marketing and PR positions at UMB Financial Corporation and Sturges Word Communications, an integrated marketing and communications firm. Cathy has played an active role in IABC Colorado since joining the chapter and served on the Communications Committee as newsletter editor from 2009 to 2011. She is a former member of the Public Relations Society of America and earned a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in Kirksville, Missouri.

Jan Kitta, ABC, Vice President of Membership

Jan Kitta, ABC, has developed integrated communication programs for Fortune 500, private, startup and nonprofit organizations. Currently, she serves as the Internal Communications Manager for the University of Denver, sshere she is building an employee Communication program for faculty, staff and students.  Jan has extensive experience in employee communications and public relations for the telecommunications industry, most recently working for Qwest Communications prior to its acquisition by CenturyLink. Prior to relocating to Denver in 2008 to work for Qwest, Jan spent six years at Sprint in Overland Park, Kansas, where she led internal and external communication teams and programs. In Kansas City, she also worked for Birch Telecom, a startup formed in 1997, where she developed an employee communication program to support the company’s expanding operations, and for HNTB, a civil engineering firm, handling marketing communications and publications. A native of Omaha, Nebraska, she holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and a Master’s degree in Communications from the University of Denver. An active community volunteer, Jan is on the board for Women Helping Others, a giving circle of Volunteers of America, and serves as an Ambassador volunteer at the Denver Zoo.

Audrey Stermer,  Vice President of Communications

Since joining the chapter, Audrey Stermer has broadened our visibility and reach in promoting events through social media channels. She has more than five years experience working in marketing, internal communications and public relations. In 2012, Audrey joined Sports Authority as Internal Communications Business Partner at the corporate headquarters in Denver, Colorado. She was formerly the Communications Manager for Apollo Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility department. As a college intern, Audrey developed copy for University of Phoenix marketing campaigns to reach a student body of more than 400,000. Audrey specializes in corporate social responsibility, building communications plans for cash and in-kind donations, scholarships, volunteerism and sustainability programs. Audrey Stermer graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in English Literature from Arizona State University. In 2011, Audrey earned her Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver.

Sarah Thornton, Vice President of Professional Development

Sarah Thornton has been working in public relations since 1994 and has experience with both agencies and in-house communications teams. She started her own consulting business in 2007, as a public relations and marketing consultant with offices in Las Vegas and Denver, where she now lives with her family. Sarah specializes in the real estate, legal and healthcare industries. She is a former chapter president and regional board member for IABC Las Vegas, as well as a former chapter president for PRSA’s Las Vegas Valley chapter. In addition to her work with IABC, she currently serves on the board of directors for PRSA Colorado. Sarah is an award-winning communications professional with several Bronze Quill awards from IABC Las Vegas. In 2011, she was named Public Relations Principal of the Year at the Electronic Media Awards. Sarah holds a B.A.in Communications Studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

 

Stacy Wilson, ABC, Director of Accreditation

Stacy Wilson, ABC, has focused on internal communication and organizational development since the mid-1990s, as a speaker, author, consultant, intranet expert and trainer. As president of Eloquor Consulting, Inc., she shares her expertise to help organizations leverage internal communication strategically to deliver business results. Eloquor’s clients include Fortune 500 companies from many different industries. In addition to shepherding ABC accreditation programs for the chapter, Stacy is a former IABC International Board member, former chair of the IABC Southern Region Conference and former director of IABC District 5. She is a frequent speaker and author on the topics of employee communication and intranet protocols. Stacy earned her B.F.A. in Public Relations from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

 

Julie Ludwig, ABC, Past President and Senior Delegate to Southern Region

Julie L. Ludwig, ABC, has worked both in-house and in agencies providing communications, marketing, marketing operations and knowledge management for business-to-business and professional services companies for more than 10 years. In recognition of her professional and creative excellence, she has been awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze Quills, as well as a MarComm Award and a PRSA Bronze Pick. Julie currently serves as Secretary for IABC’s Southern Region. She has taken an active role in IABC Colorado’s leadership, creating solid strategic planning and sound budgeting processes for the chapter while serving on the board of directors since 2008. She served as Vice President of Finance from 2008-2010, President Elect in 2009-2010 and as President from 2010 to Dec. 31, 2012. During preparation for the 2008 IABC Southern Region Conference, she served on the planning committee from 2006 through 2008. Currently, Julie is working with meme, inc., a Denver branding and marketing agency. Previously, she was the Marketing Manager at a prominent Denver-based law firm for six years. Julie graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Speech Communication from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
